Land Speed Racers Arrive at Salar de Uyuni for 2023 Bolivia Speed Trials

August 16, 2023

Land speed racers were all smiles upon first setting foot on the Salar de Uyuni on August 14 for the 2023 Bolivia Speed Trials. Ideal salt conditions and a shimmering 15-mile track with hardly a whisper of wind in the air were exactly what competitors were hoping to find after traveling from around the world for the third-ever FIM-sanctioned Land Speed World Records event in Bolivia. Teams from the United States joined crews, officials, volunteers and friends from Australia, New Zealand, England, Germany, France, Argentina and Ecuador at the Cristal Samana hotel in Colchani, Bolivia, where they hope to make history.

Jamie Williams is prepared to compete aboard three different vehicles as an FIM and FIA contender.

Rocky Robinson likes what he sees on the Salar de Uyuni - dry, smooth, rock-hard salt.

The 15-mile marker is a big deal to racers. It's not easy to find a track this long anywhere but in Bolivia.
